Welcome to the 2017 CrossFit Open!  As in the past, I will be organizing the Open for CFG.  Please take a few minutes to review the items below.  It is very important to take note of when and how to register for your time slot.  I need that information so I can plan the weekend.

  • Prepare:  On Thursday night, watch the WOD announcement at games.crossfit.com.  This will not only give you the information you need for the WOD and the standards, but also inform you of special circumstances such as how to get measured for handstand push-ups.
  • Register:  Before Friday Morning at 10:00 AM – register in WODIFY for the time slot you want to complete the Open WOD.  You can register at any time, but the deadline is Friday at 10:00AM.  You can register on the Wodify App or on the internet.  Via the app select “Class Schedule”, go to the day and time and click the reserve ticket.  Via the internet, go to www.wodify.com and click “Calendar” and do the same.  CFG offers the following time slots:
    • Friday Night at 6:00 PM
    • Saturday at 10:00 AM
    • Sunday at 10:00 AM
  • Confirm:  By Friday at 12:00 Noon, I will post the heats and judging assignments for each day to CFG’s facebook page and website.  Heats and judges are assigned randomly.  Please do not request a specific judge.
  • Perform:  On the day you select to complete the WOD a few simple rules need to be followed:
  1. Warm-up on your own.  We will not have a coordinated warm-up
  2. Standards review will begin promptly at the start times listed above.  Heat 1 will begin 15 minutes after.
  3. Know your assignments for performing and judging.
  4. Be courteous of your fellow athletes and do not interfere with the classes being held prior to the Open WOD sessions.

Miscellaneous Items

  • Monday Night at 7:00 PM.  CFG has offered this time slot ONLY for people that cannot attend Fri-Sunday due to a known issue (travel/family/work).  If for some reason you cannot attend Fri-Sun you must email Barry and I to let us know.
  • Second Chances.  If you want to complete a WOD a second time, you may request a time for your second chance via email to me immediately after your complete the WOD the 1stYou will always be accommodated on Saturday and Sunday.  If you request a second chance on a Monday night your request will only be accepted if we can fit you in logistically.  I will confirm your second chance request by Monday at 12:00 Noon so you can plan accordingly.
  • Everyone will judge.  Review and understand the standards.  Hold your athlete accountable.  Do not be afraid to say “No Rep”.  If you are an athlete that gets “no repped”, fix the problem, please don’t argue with your judge.

Team Information

  • You do not have to complete the workout with your team. You can choose any of the times listed.
  • The team concept is just to add a fun spin during the Open. You literally don’t have to do anything but do your best in the WODs.

Lastly…HAVE FUN!!!  The Open has and will always bring out our best.  Every year we have a story of firsts…PR’s… whatever.  What will it be this year???
