Box jumps are a great movement that really add strength, power and agility to your oly lifts in addition to strength in general in the legs and improvement with fast-twitch muscle fiber reaction times. The landing phase also transitions nicely with aiding in injury prevention. In general, box jumps pack a nice metabolic punch as well! With that being said, you must focus on your landing and block out all other distracting things around you in order to be successful with the movement. At CFG, we ask you follow these simple rules to get the most out of your jumps while practicing smart training.
The rules at CFG for box jumps are as follows:
1. Don’t jump until you are ready.
2. When you are ready, jump like you mean it.
3. Step off the box at the top after full extension of the knees and hips.
