For those that don’t know, Coach Dave made good on his pledge to do 2101 burpees on Saturday, Nov 7th. In October, he set a goal to do 1 burpee for every $1 he raised for Breast Cancer Awareness. While some of us were questioning his sanity, what he did was really amazing. It was amazing because he actually did 2101 burpees, but also because he set this goal and followed through and I think that’s where we can all be inspired. He was smart with how he did this. He set a specific, definable goal, set a concrete deadline, identified key players to help rally the troops for support and had a great motivating cause for his goal. He laid out a plan, trained, created a strategy and then on Saturday executed the plan. It all fit the criteria for the SMART goal setting theory which states that if goals are specific in nature, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound they have a high success rate. Dave met his goal, did all 2101 burpees and proved that with the right approach and determination, it’s possible. What are your goals and are you on track to achieve them? Go after it, what’s stopping you?
