CrossFit is all about being good at a lot of tasks, not awesome at one specific thing. As CrossFit athletes, there is nothing better for getting and staying in shape than smart programming of General Physical Preparedness (GPP). Sure you can certainly focus on a certain aspect of GPP to get better at it. Take Olympic Weightlifting for example. To get better at Olympic Weightlifting, you must Olympic Weightlift consistently. However, there are so many parts to GPP and I firmly believe in training all of them. Do I believe that some should take precedence over others? Yes. But training all aspects of GPP will help you achieve a solid level of fitness keep you in great shape long term, and is more fun.
