Mid-line stabilization is the bracing, engaging, and stabilizing of the spine and core during functional movement.  The stabilization of the mid-line is affected by all of the prime movers of the body such as the glutes and hips.  When performing any type of functional movement, always focus on stabilizing your mid-line.  It aids in power production of the movement and the performance of the movement safely and efficiently.  Whether it be squats, presses, deadlifts, pullups, or pushups, always brace your mid-line.

Please note that if you are tight and stiff throughout your body’s prime movers, it directly affects how well you can achieve mid-line stabilization.  Work on mobility constantly and achieve proper positioning in order to achieve optimal range and proper mid-line stabilization.
