Mike Burgener says it best in regards to the jerk “Timing, change of direction, stability, strength, and flexibility are all needed to handle the massive weights that the jerk makes it possible to get overhead.” (CrossFit Journal May 2007.) The jerk is a very technical lift, but breaking it down and focusing on one or two things at a time work well to improve on the lift. Today, think about the final catch overhead with strong shoulders and the aggressive drive up on the bar to return to your finish position.
