With the start of the new squat program, I wanted to touch on bracing your core and squeezing the bar when squatting.  Before you descend into your squat, you are to take a big inhale, create “big belly”, and brace your core.  As you begin to descend, squeeze the bar and pull it into your traps.  By doing this, you create energy and tension throughout the bar and your body.  This is why squatting works the whole body.  Continue to brace and squeeze throughout the whole movement.  Once you hit the top, exhale and repeat the sequence for all 3 reps.  It is imperative that you focus on this during the program for effectiveness and safety.
