I know we have talked about this before but
everyone needs to be working on opening up your anterior hip/hip flexor
area. A lot of us have jobs that require sitting for long hours or
driving/traveling. When we are in the seated position for long periods
of time we start to shorten/stiffen up our muscles in the front of the
hip and the femur actually relocates itself as well (not good!). This
could be the beginning of some not so much fun back issues or pain. To
really have you feel whats actually happening try this:
Stand
up tall with your feet under your hips. Hinge forward slightly and
grab some skin on your upper thigh and anterior hip. While still
holding on try to stand up. Not so easy huh?
When lunging today make sure to fully open up your hips and don’t continue to add to this problem.
Check the Mobility posters for a few good mobility drills.
